The Day the Train Was Held for Mae

One day, one of Dr. Beck’s patients was in urgent need of three certain medicines.

Unfortunately, it required a trip to Portland. I was called on for this angel of mercy mission, so caught the Interurban from Gray to Congress Street. Before dashing off to Hay’s Drug Store for the medication, I made certain that the trainman knew of the importance of my errand, and insisted that the train be held for my trip back to Gray.

I picked up the required package and rushed back to the train stop. Sure enough,
the train was there for my fast return; mission accomplished!
