As described on the Maine Memory Network, Leighton’s Tavern was built in about 1800 by Andrew Leighton. The tavern was located on the Gray Road, at the intersection of Route 100 and the old Gray Road. The tavern was situated along the old stagecoach route from Falmouth (now Portland) to Bakertown (now Lewiston).
The tavern building was moved in 1970 to Schooner Rocks at Cumberland Foreside.
