The 1962 photo is of the one-time store, post office, and dance hall on the Lewiston Road in Gray. At the time of the photograph, the building had been condemned by the State Arson Division as a fire hazard. The dance hall in the building was located in the rear and had an orchestra hall along one wall. The [dance] floor was suspended on rubber bumpers to soften the dance steps of those attending. At one time, the building was known as St. Clara’s Hall.
